As part of the Texas Tears series, Bastrop on Fire illustrates the cloud of smoke from the 2011 wildfire.

It reminds us of the latent vengeance of mother earth, our inability to bend her to our will, and serves as a commemoration of all that was lost and a celebration of community support.
